La Mission from L’Atelier Import cigars, of which Pete Johnson of Tatuaje is a partner, is a cigar inspired by a winery in Bordeaux called Chateau La Mission. The cigar is wrapped in dark brown Mexican San Andres leaf covering a rich blend of Nicaraguan binder tobacco and fillers, including the rare Sancti Spiritus leaf. The cigar is made in Nicaragua by My Father Cigars. La Mission du L’Atelier 1959 is a 4 3/4″ x 52″ Robusto vitola. Once ignited, it reveals an extravagant flavor and complexity: notes of mocha, dark chocolate, pepper, leather and charred wood. 1959 corresponds to the year in which the Chateau La Mission winery received a score of 100 points from Robert Parker.
Cigar Aficionado’s #4 cigar of 2020, rated 96 points.
