Christian Eiroa’s most prized wrapper is the Corojo, with this wrapper he also made the original Camacho line before it was sold to Davidoff. Christian Eiroa’s story continues when, in 2012, he starts his new company, CLE Cigars. The CLE Corojo is one of CLE Cigars’ first offerings. CLE Corojo cigars are iconic with the wrapper leaf that is “Authentic Corojo” grown at Julio Eiroa’s (Cristian Eiroa’s father) famed Tabacos Jamastran ranch near Danley, Honduras. At the same time, the seeds themselves of the authentic variety of the Corojo plant, are a legacy left by Cristian Eiroa’s grandfather, these seeds were developed in the 1940s in Cuba. Unlike other cigars made with Corojo, using the hybrid variety Corojo \’99, which is less susceptible to disease and does not offer the same unique flavor as the ‘Authentic Corojo’. Another factor that accounts for the great aromas, buttery sheen and smooth texture of this wrapper is that the leaves are taken from the 3rd and 4th prime of the Corojo plant. CLE cigars are more of a medium to strong, with an emphasis on flavors and aromas in the blend rather than strength. With a complex flavor profile of black pepper, caramel and hints of citrus accompanied by the natural sweetness of tobacco.
